Our Kitchen on Design Sponge!!!

This post heralds a very exciting moment for us in the history of Our Kitchen. We made it onto Design Sponge! For those of you not familiar with Design Sponge, it is a website dedicated to home and product design which in 2008 was declared a “Martha Stewart Living for the Millennials” (NY Times).

Regular posts feature a myriad of topics including DIY furniture, graphic design, product design and our favourite, ITKW (In the Kitchen With) which is a weekly recipe feature by food bloggers, photographers and food lovers.  As I mentioned in an earlier post, this Design Sponge feature is particularly exciting for us as it means we feature alongside photographers and bloggers who we look up to and who are hugely influential and inspirational to us.  People such a Ditte Isager who took the photos for Gordon Ramsays latest cookbook, and food bloggers such as Heidi Swanson of 101 Cookbooks, Matt Armendariz of Matt Bites, and Keiko Oikawa of Nordljus.

Kristina who runs the ITKW feature has been kind enough to give us two opportunities to feature on the site.  So the post below is the savoury feature which the Auckland team worked on, and this coming Friday (Saturday morning New Zealand time) the sweet feature will be posted which was put together by the Dunedin team.  So please check us out and let us know what you think.  May this be the first of many posts like these!

  1. As a kiwi living in London and a bit of a designsponge* junkie, I got VERY excited when I saw your feature on their website! It’s lovely to see this kind of international appreciation. Being a somewhat isolated country, sometimes I think a lot of NZers don’t understand how high the standard of ingenuity and originality is on a day-to-day basis – and how much it’s taken for granted. Missing NZ food loads right now!

  2. Funny to find a local site via designsponge… but so glad I did! Have been contemplating an NZ food blog and its great that you guys are doing it.

    Nice work!

  3. Thanks guys for all your positive feedback – it is great to know there are lots of you out there who appreciate the blog! Emma
