A healthy start to a new year
Happy New Year readers! Welcome to 2012; a year full of possibilities. If the end of ‘11’ was gluttony and sloth, the beginning of ‘12’ should be a little bit of pride and vanity. Taketh away the turkey with all ye trimmings and dessert after each meal and in its place layeth fruit, vegetables, lean protein and whole grains. This month’s recipes will detoxify and cleanse; transform your body into a temple and prepare your mind for new beginnings.
To make 2012 a year to remember, I urge you to write a list of things you want to achieve. My list last year had about an 80% success rate so this year I am going to make even bigger goals. I am going to fulfil some dreams; it may be a little late for me to join a dance crew and tour the world but it’s not too late to take up dance classes again. I don’t have the ability or funds to run the New York Marathon but I would like to try my hand at long(er) distance running and save for a trip to New York (to shop and eat pizza). I want to learn new recipes of food I love to eat but don’t yet know how to cook. I want to eat smarter, shopping once a week instead of every few days and utilising our garden to provide us with seasonal produce. This is starting to resemble a theme to a ‘find yourself’ movie staring Julia Roberts so I’ll quickly sign off with one last wish – to live an exciting year, filled with happiness and surrounded by amazing people. And I wish the same for all of you!
